Thanks Carol – do the same rules apply for honeydew melons?
That’s a great question, but sadly, the answer is no, this doesn’t apply to honeydew melons. There are few signs for honeydews, so the best thing for you to do is count the days from when the female flower is pollinated. At 30 days, well….in a perfect world, it would be ripe. You might look for a slight – oh, so slight – color change, then experiement with the month-old melons to see if they’re good enough to eat.
